The main components of modern emotional intelligence theories include the following:
Self-awareness which is the ability to recognize and understand one's emotions and how their emotions influence behavior.
Self-Regulation/ Management which is the ability to control and adapt one's emotions and to self-motivate.
Interpersonal Skills which is the ability to get along with others and successfully communicate and cooperate within relationships.
Social Awareness which is the ability to perceive and understand others' emotions.
